What Makes LADC Unique?

Highly Qualified, Caring Staff (Meet our Teachers!)
LADC hires only four year degreed, early-childhood specialists or Kindergarten certified teachers as Lead Teachers. In addition to over 20 years in early childhood education, Executive Director Janet Miller is also a certified Parent Educator.
Staff Core Values: LOVE  FAITH  RESPECT  INTEGRITY

National Accreditation
LADC is proud to have earned NAEYC Accreditation, the mark of quality for early childhood education. 4 of LADC's 6 locations are currently accredited, with the goal of all sites being accredited by the end of 2012.

FULL and PART TIME Childcare Schedules
In addition to tradition preschool classes, LADC incoporates Full and Part Time Care with our high quality kindergarten readiness programs. We recognize part-day care can be difficul tto find. LADC divides the day with half-days and extended hours to meet the needs of families.

Childcare, Plus! Vacation Policy

LADC believes that family time is a priority and it is best for children to spend holiday and vacation time with their families whenever possible.
* Two (2) weeks of vacation time per year between September and June may be taken without paying the weekly tuition.
* Vacations must be taken in blocks of at least one (1) week at a time.

Christian-Based

LADC is a non-denominational Christian-based program. Children of any religion and ethnic origins are welcome to attend. In addition to a weekly "spritual emphasis" and daily prayer, Bible-based lessons are written into our curriculum and children participate in singing and worship times.

Parent Education Program
LADC believes very strongly that the parent is the first and most important teacher! "Our Families First" is a weekly child/parent program that gives parents the opportunity to meet with a parent facilitator for a parenting class, while teachers provide class time activities with the children, in a schedule similar to ECFE. Speakers and Social Events are also provided through out the school year, at no additional cost.

Teaching to the "Whole Child"
LADC's classrooms, curriculum and teaching approach is designed to meet all the needs of young children. Academic goals, social-emotional situations, feeling loved and valued as a child of God; these are all important pieces to a child's self-esteem, friendships and success in school.

Parent Community / Family Events
LADC is fortunate to have a Parent Booster Organization (The LADC Boosters), who help coordinate volunteers, help with parent communication, organize social events, and more! Each year, Family Events are co-hosted with our Parntership Churchs to provide times of fellowship and fun. Families who choose LADC often form strong relationships and continue their friendship many years after leaving LADC.

A pioneer among Minnesota preschools, the Lake Area Discovery Center philosophy lays the foundation for the entire structure of the program.  We believe that...

As one of the top St Paul preschools, we must strive to provide children with an environment that fosters the child's emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual and physical development.

"We have been very impressed with the classes at LADC. Our daughter is in a caring environment that fosters her creativity, intellect and self-esteem. The curriculum taught is a perfect balance of academic themes, creative outlets, Christian connections and fun. Our daughter loves LADC - We feel so fortunate to be enrolled in one of the best St Paul Preschools around!

Children entering Lake Area Discovery Center have already established foundations of their personalities. LADC helps children build bridges between their home and school lives.

"I get so encouraged each time my son comes home and is singing worship songs that are imprinting the words of the bible in to his little heart. He is already demonstrating  a love for Jesus and God and I know that the combination of LADC and home have encouraged that growth in him. I wouldn't want him anywhere else and that's why we also have our daughter in 'Terrific Twos'. Well done, LADC."

LADC teachers teach to the "whole child". Special emphasis is placed on success in social situations and academic expectations. The goal is success in Kindergarten and the beginning of a life-long love of learning.

"My son started Kindergarten this fall and I was very impressed with how ready he was for school. His teacher asked me where he went to pre-school. When we told her LADC, she told us how excited they are to receive LADC students- so very ready to start school!"

"I'm studying emergent literacy in a continuing ed class. Everything I am learning talks about the importance of emergent literacy in preschool and is right in line with what LADC does. Thanks for giving my kids the best start possible!!"
- LADC Alumni Parent

It is LADC's goal to provide each child with an opportunity for growth in self-esteem, relationships with peers and adults and to develop positive work habits in both individual and group situations.

"Our son is young for his age group, but we are confident that the positive, Christian-based education he is receiving- from the amazing teachers and staff- will prepare him well socially and academically for kindergarten."
